Angel Food Churro Bites and Charceuterie Tray

Angel Food Cake Churro Bites and Skewers

In honor of Built bar's newest Churro Puff protein bar, I whipped together a simple yet insanely decadent Angel Food "Churro" Cake bite and a rich chocolate sauce that will knock your socks off! Serve the cake bites alone or pair them up with fresh strawberries and "churro" marshmallows on a skewer. For an extra special treat, arrange everything on a Charcuterie board or party tray, paired with Built Bar's Churro Puffs for your next gathering, office party or holiday.

Ingredients for Angel Food "Churro" Bites:

1/2 - 10 oz. Angel food cake loaf, cubed

1 stick of Unsalted Butter, melted

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 TBSP ground cinnamon

Ingredients For Chocolate (Dipping) Sauce:

1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips*

*(I created 2 dipping sauces utilizing Cinnamon baking chips and semi sweet chocolate chips. Just follow the directions and Ingredients to create as many different sauces you choose)

1 to 2 TBSP milk of choice

1 TBSP unsalted butter

Ingredients For Skewers:

8 oz Fresh Strawberries, tops trimmed, sliced in half

1 package Smash brand Cinnamon Churro Marshmallows (or the large marshmallows of your choice)

1 package of Bamboo skewers, cut each skewer in half. Use as many as you need.

"Churro" Directions:

Preheat Air fryer to 350°F.

Don't have an air fryer? No worries. You can utilize your oven or toaster oven.

Line a shallow baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice 1/2  your Angel food cake into 1" thick slices. Slicing again into "sticks" and then into cubes roughly 1 to 1 1/2" thick.

(You can repeat the steps if you want more. Or if you just want to add plain angel food cake cubes to a party tray.)

Cut your butter into 4-6 slices. Add to a microwave safe bowl (preferably glass). Microwave for 60-90 seconds or until butter is completely melted.

If you do not have a microwave you can add your butter to a small saucepan and melt on medium on your stove top.

While your butter is melting, in a small bowl, mix together your cinnamon and sugar. A fork or whisk works best.

One at a time, quickly dip a cake square in melted butter. Do not let it sit. It will sog up. Add your butter dipped cake square to your cinnamon sugar mix and shake to coat completely.

Place coated cake to your pan and Repeat for each individual cake piece.

Once finished, place churro squares in air fryer or oven for 6 minutes, shaking pan or basket half way through.

Remove from air fryer and let cool.

Chocolate Sauce Directions:

For the Chocolate sauce, combine 1 tbsp of butter, 1 cup of chocolate chips and 1 tbsp of milk of choice. You can use almond or coconut or soy. Your choice. Microwave for 90 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds to combine. Additional time may be needed depending on your microwave wattage.

You can do this on your stove top using a sauce pan on low-medium heat. Stir constantly to avoid burning.

Pour into a small serving dish or individual ramekins. Dip your churro cake squares and as always, Enjoy!

Churro Skewers Directions:

Wash and pat dry your strawberries. Trim off the tops and slice your strawberries in half.

Cut your skewers in half.

Thread on one churro cake bite, followed by 1/2 a strawberry and finally your marshmallow.

Arrange on your serving dish of choice. Serve alongside chocolate sauce. Or enjoy as they are.

For a Charcuterie Board or Party tray, arrange skewers, churro cake bites, fresh strawberries, chocolate chips, marshmallows, plain angel food cake cubes, dipping sauces and of course, don't forget to add a few chopped Churro Puff Built Bars.
